Coaching teachers and staff in many schools up and down NZ. From 2 weeks to the present 8 months at Twizel Area School. One-to-one in class coaching, before and after-school team and full staff workshops and careful support of pastoral and pedagogical systems. With calm considered tips and regular conversations and observations, teachers are empowered.
Over a 2 year period the Hailleybury College in Beijing was supported to put a new reading programme in place from scratch. This meant a huge team effort to assess all students, group them by ability, buy books and generate a system for levelling and coding them. It required training all teachers to assess reading as well as teach reading groups. Somehow we found extra hours to meet daily with the senior leadership to develop mentoring skills and generate systems to oversea the maintenance and development of the whole programme.
Using online training and then in-school follow up, with workshops and in-class coaching, St Judes School in Canberra adopted SharpReading as its Guided Reading approach.
